Distillers to tackle the sanitizer shortage
In the wake of the COVID-19 global pandemic, Ontario has seen its share of shortages. Some of which are for products necessary to help curb the spread of the virus.
To help combat the shortage of sanitizer, Dillon's Small Batch Distillers announced on March 17th that they were repurposing their production facility to go from distilling spirits to alcohol-based sanitizer. And we quickly got involved by providing a fleet of vehicles and drivers to help deliver the sanitizer to Emergency Service Workers.
Since the start of the initiative, we’ve helped deliver nearly 13,000 bottles of sanitizer to hospitals, healthcare workers, firefighters, police officers, shelters, and many more essential service organizations – helping them stay safe as they work the front lines of this pandemic.
We didn’t hesitate to help and we’ve been humbled by the response:
Thank you to Dillon’s Small Batch Distillers for your donation of hand sanitizer. Thank you to VW for the prompt delivery… ‘Adversity does not build character - it reveals it.Dr A. Crosthwaite, Hamilton
Thank you for doing this, my wife and I are doctors and we haven’t been able to hug our baby for a while because we didn’t have sanitizer.David Fahmy, McMaster University
I’m not going to have enough hands to send thank you notes to all of you. Fighting this is easier knowing that you have our back! Thank you.Alia Dharamsi, University Health Network
We’re grateful to have worked with Dillon’s Small Batch Distillers for this vital initiative.
