The NACS DC Adapter is designed to work seamlessly with your Volkswagen EV. Here’s what to expect:

 - Compatibility: The Volkswagen NACS DC adapter is designed exclusively for DC fast chargers with NACS connectors (e.g., compatible Tesla® NACS Partner Superchargers). It is not compatible with Level 1 or Level 2 chargers, home chargers, Destination Chargers, or Mobile Connectors. Check the Tesla® app or their interactive map on Find Us | TeslaOpen external link for real-time updates on station compatibility.

- Charging Process: 

  1. Connecting the adapter: Plug the NACS DC coupler into the NACS inlet on the adapter until it clicks to ensure the NACS latch is secure.  
  2. Connecting the adapter with the car: Open your EV charging port. Press the CCS1 unlock latch on the adapter before plugging it into your vehicle. Ensure the connection is secure. 
  3. Payment: In order to successfully charge, you must register a valid payment method on the Tesla app. 

- Safety: The adapter includes interlocking safety mechanisms to prevent unintended disconnects during charging. 

- Software update requirement: For applicable MY24-25 ID.4 & ID. Buzz customers, we strongly recommend that any open campaigns be completed prior to using the Volkswagen-approved NACS DC charging adapter to charge the vehicle, as this update includes additional safeguards to prevent certain risks such as property damage, fire, and/or injury, that could occur in the case of adapter misuse.
