The purchase price for an electric vehicle is currently somewhat higher than a comparable gas vehicle due to manufacturing costs associated with the battery. However, there are significant purchase incentives available in Canada to help bridge the difference.

• Manitoba: Up to $4,000 from the Electric Vehicle Incentive Program for all trims.
• Nova Scotia: Up to $3,000 from the Electrify Nova Scotia Rebate Program for all trims.

In fact, our latest generation of EVs can go up to 468 km on one charge*. Still, the saying “mileage may vary” rings true, so think of your load, driving conditions, and weather forecast before you hit the road.

It depends really, both on your battery size and what you charge it with. So, let’s work our way from "Come on, let’s go!" to "What’s the hurry?":

A 400V+ DC fast charger can add about 9-10 km of range every minute, with a charging session usually lasting half an hour.

A 240V charger installed at home (or at work) can fully charge a 400 km EV in about 8-10 hours, enough for you to start (or end) your day all charged up.

A 120V regular outlet can be used with the included home charger to fully charge a 400 km EV in just over 2 days (or a weekend at the cottage).

Keep in mind, you don’t need a full charge to fully enjoy your Volkswagen EV. So, charge it as you need it to keep your battery in tip-top shape.

Just like your phone, your EV gives you a heads-up when it’s low on juice then switches to energy-saving mode. When it does, just pop open the integrated Volkswagen Car-Net® system and get shown the way to the nearest public charger.

Your battery also has an inaccessible reserve of energy that helps minimizes any damage from running out of accessible energy.

The cost of ownership for an electric vehicle is typically lower than for a gas vehicle. Home charging costs significantly less than an equivalent gas fill, and charging is free at some public stations. Assuming an average of $0.13/kWh, a 400 km EV could charge from Empty to Full with only about $10 worth of electricity.

Electric technology is also less maintenance-intensive, which can mean lower servicing costs.

You’ll be pleasantly surprised by how long the battery lasts, and performance is improving all the time. The key factor is how often the battery is charged and discharged.

At Volkswagen, we guarantee that your battery will not drop below a minimum of 70% of the useable capacity value after eight years or 160,000 km – whichever comes first.

Charging your electric vehicle is very safe, even in damp and rainy conditions. As long as your EV and charging station meet the strict legal standards, no electricity will flow until a secure and fully safe contact is established.

You can also safely take your vehicle through a car wash or open the hood in the rain, and your EV is as safe as any other when there's lightning.

We’re pretty sure you’ll find the experience anything but boring, but the best way to answer this question is to drive one. Unlike gas vehicles, electric vehicles have nearly instant torque, which means there's no lag between pressing the accelerator and the power delivery. This lends itself to a dynamic driving experience.

The batteries in the latest generation of EVs are integrated into the vehicle’s floor, giving them a phenomenally low centre of gravity and optimal weight distribution. As a result, the dynamics of EVs are breathtaking.

No, the Volkswagen NACS DC adapter is designed exclusively for DC fast chargers with NACS connectors (e.g., compatible Tesla NACS Partner Superchargers) and is not compatible with Level 1 or Level 2 chargers, home chargers, Destination Chargers, or Mobile Connectors.

Misuse may result in damage, safety hazards, and injuries. Ensure your vehicle always has the most up-to-date available software.

For applicable MY24-25 ID.4 & ID.Buzz customers, we strongly recommend that any open campaigns be completed prior to using the Volkswagen-approved NACS DC charging adapter to charge the vehicle, as this update includes additional safeguards to prevent certain risks such as property damage, fire, and/or injury, that could occur in the case of adapter misuse.
