There are many reasons for longer wait times. When it comes to our vehicles, it’s because of…

  • increased demand,
  • limited availability of semiconductors, and 
  • a tight global supply situation.

We’ve become accustomed to extremely fast delivery in general but wait times for cars have always averaged a couple of months. Right now, with electric and hybrid cars gaining so much in popularity, demand is higher than ever and wait times have increased. In addition, the automotive industry is affected by delays in the global supply chain, which is a challenge all manufacturers are currently facing. This has resulted in increased wait times for new vehicles in the short term.

Consequences of high demand

Since 2021, Volkswagen’s electric car sales have more than doubled compared to previous years. We’re doing everything we can to fulfill as many orders as possible, but demand may exceed our capacities at times.

Global supply chain situation

With so much going on right now, different factors are adding complexity to the already delicate global supply chain. Despite this, we’re doing our best to fulfill as many orders as possible.

Effects of semiconductor crisis

The semiconductor crisis is also affecting parts of the car industry. This is because special chips with increased failure safety are used in modern cars and cannot easily be replaced by an alternative. The limited availability can delay the production of affected models, resulting in longer wait times.
