Home charging: It’s as convenient as it gets

And it’s no wonder given all the perks. From scheduled charging, government incentives, and the benefits of charging your EV in your own garage, here’s a run-down of what makes home charging the ultimate convenience.

Ready, set, charge

You can schedule a departure time that helps your Volkswagen EV determine when charging should be completed by. If it’s a daily time, like when you start your commute to work, you only need to do this once. Just set it then forget it.

The Volkswagen charger

Our 2-in-1 mobile EV charger is compact and includes a wall bracket for mounting inside your garage. Offering both 240V and 120V compatibility for Level 1 or 2 charging, we recommend having a certified electrician install a 240V outlet near where you park your ID.4 to get the most efficiency from home charging. This mobile charger is easily portable, and can be brought on the road for supplementary charging when visiting family, friends, or spending a night at a cottage.

Wake up recharged

There are two main benefits of charging your Volkswagen EV at home overnight. You can take advantage of lower electricity rates during off-peak hours. And you can do so while wearing your pajamas - the Volkswagen 2-in-1 charger will take your battery from 0-100% overnight in as little as 8 hours.*

* Using a 9.6 kWh Level 2 at home charger, your battery can charge to full in as little as 7.25 hours. Estimated charging times are provided as a reference only. Actual charging times will vary based on several factors, including, battery state of charge, driving behaviour, battery condition, current, resistance, ambient temperature, available voltage and charging frequency.

A little extra green

Some provinces are giving incentives to help alleviate the energy costs of charging at home, offering provincial rebates of up to $750 depending on where you live.

The savings add up

Looking at the forecasted annual fuel cost for 2024, charging will save you close to 75% of what you’d spend on gas for a year.* Think about the cost like this – if the national average for electricity prices is $0.16 per kWh, it would cost you around $14 to charge a battery from 0-100% in the ID.4 Pro RWD. That’s the same amount it costs to get a quick take-out lunch. Mmmmm sweet, delicious savings.
