[Attendees mingling and talking amongst themselves] >> Where are you guys from? >> Newfoundland, Im Lori! >> I volunteer with two homeless organizations in the city. >> One focuses on making sure that homeless women have access to menstrual products, >> and then the other organizations I volunteer on their outreach van. [exclamation] [All attendees sitting at the dinner table whilst host is speaking] >> Now we searched across Canada for Volkswagen's, unsung heroes. >> The people who give, without asking for anything in return. >> We received over 1300 stories including all of yours, and that's what tonight is really about. >> Us celebrating you. [Attendees introduce themselves] >> It's a great inspiration to know that there's this level of involvement from coast to coast. >> It's been really inspiring to have my dad volunteer for the hospital. >> My wife was in the clinic, she's since passed 12 years ago, >> and I was determined to become a volunteer because I could see how valuable they were. >> Shannon and Jim. You are both volunteer first responders. >> It's a little intense to do what we do, but somebody's life is at risk. >> Your husband Jonathan unfortunately couldn't be here tonight >> because he is with your son Cale. >> The big inspiration for a lot of the volunteer work that you do. >> I serve as president of the board for the autism support network. >> Walking out of a meeting, giving one parent one little tidbit, warms my heart! >> To be in service of others and to give back is like the best way you can leave your mark, >> and have a positive impact in kind of the world around you. >> Thats fantastic!
