What drives us at Volkswagen? The same thing that drives the Volunteers of Camp Oochigeas (Ooch). The vision we share in making the world a better place. That’s why this year Volkswagen has teamed up with Ooch. The Camp was started in 1983 by a group of volunteers united in their mission to build a camp for kids with and affected by childhood cancer. Camp Ooch is privately funded and free for the 1000+ kids that come through its doors each year. Camp Ooch serves children and their families at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), their urban recreation centre Ooch Downtown in the heart of Toronto and at their residential site in Muskoka. It is the only residential camp in Ontario that offers onsite IV chemotherapy treatment and blood transfusions, allowing them to serve the most vulnerable and fragile population of kids. Camp Ooch volunteers fill camper’s days with challenging, fun activities ranging from archery, canoeing and kayaking and rockwall, giving kids with cancer what they need most – the chance to be a kid. Creating unforgettable experiences is what Ooch volunteers and Volkswagen do best.
