The front end sports four horizontal chrome strips, giving the Tiguan a 'face' now consistent across the VW family. More importantly, Volkswagen engineers tweaked the engine and transmission to reduce fuel consumption by a solid 10 per cent in city driving and six per cent on the highway.

Of all the compact SUVs currently on the market, the Volkswagen Tiguan does the best job living up to the “sport utility” name.
