    TDI for me

I like hybrids. Hybrids work. They’re good on gas and satisfy my occasional urges to reduce the atmospheric contamination caused by my driving.

    Jetta takes another step forward

The Jetta was redesigned last year, giving buyers more space for passengers and gear. Always one of my favourite compact cars for its high-quality interiors, good fuel economy and decent powertrains, the Jetta in TDI guise is definitely the one I'd choose if I was spending your money.

Family sedan Jetta has a fun side

The 2012 GLI is to Jetta what GTI is to the Volkswagen Golf: the fun-loving member of the family. They’re definitely related, because they share some DNA - a 2.0-litre turbocharged four cylinder engine and a penchant for finding the fun in even the most mundane of journeys.

2012 Volkswagen Jetta TDI 2.0L Highline Review

All the design quirks of previous-generation Jettas are gone, leaving behind the smoothly sculpted 2012 Jetta TDI Highline four-door sedan. Headlamps are integrated and help to blend the front fascia, hood and fenders into a smooth, pleasing shape. A side view turns up a generous greenhouse and then the design drops smoothly to the trunk, which does have a bit of an upturned lip if you look closely. Tail lights are large and placed high in the body so that they don’t get covered in too much snow and grime when travelling about.

Used Vehicle Review: Volkswagen Jetta, 2006-2010

The fifth-generation Volkswagen Jetta – known among enthusiasts as the MKV (say “Mark five”) – was a bit of a throwback when it was introduced in 2005 as a 2006 model, being closer in proportion to the second- and third-generation models, with its long hood, high decklid and, inside, a huge trunk.

    Driven: 2011 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5L

The Volkswagen Jetta is a very familiar nameplate in North America, as it’s going on its thirty-first year of production. 2011 saw the release of the sixth iteration of the compact sedan, but this time around they’re playing the game a little bit differently. Volkswagen has a clear goal in mind; they want to become a more prominent player in terms of overall global sales, and part of that strategy includes selling more Jettas in North America.

    Finally, a people's Jetta!

With models whose base price ranges from a little under $16,000 (2.0-litre Trendline) to a little over $27,000 (Jettla GLI), the Jetta lineup covers a lot of ground. The wide price spectrum puts the German Jetta on the same playing field as the Kia Rio Convenience and Chevrolet Malibu LS.

2011 Volkswagen Jetta Review – Honest, Simple and Refreshing

It’s a grey and dismal morning in Vancouver as I rocket across the Oak Street Bridge to a training seminar. The wipers are flinging away sheet after sheet of rain, and the seat heat is working overtime warming me after a very wet and unpleasant dog walk earlier this morning.

2011 Volkswagen Jetta TDI Comfortline Review

When talking about the Volkswagen Jetta, in our collective consciousness we’re on the verge of a luxury vehicle. The car that slotted in between the fuel-efficient Golf and the larger Passat played a key role in the automaker’s ascension, offering a middle ground between the two. Which, sadly, was evidenced by a slightly exorbitant price tag.

Diesel Jetta certainly not a stinker

Powered by Volkswagen's 2.0 litre, four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, Jetta posts higher torque numbers than most anything comparable in the segment (236 lb.-ft., even at very low engine speed), making the Jetta TDI a ready accelerator that can rightfully claim 'sporty' performance.

Its engine sound is quiet, though it unmistakably sounds like a diesel. Ultra-low sulphur fuel has eliminated much of the smell that characterized diesel vehicles of the past.
