    Performance enthusiasts in the compact sedan segment don’t have to feel shut out of the performance gene handouts, now that Volkswagen has a new Jetta GLI. The Jetta GLI is basically the sedan version of the Golf GTI, the renowned performance version of the VW best seller introduced in 1976, for people who don’t want hatchbacks (the reason the Jetta was created in 1979 primarily for the U.S. market).     Review: 2012 Volkswagen Jetta GLI

    Volkswagen understands that red is the fastest colour. Gleaming in the autumn sun before me is a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta GLI, in Tornado Red (yes, capital letters). I’m no bull, but I can’t deny that the colour is working: I do want to drive this red car, fast. My eyes are drawn to the smaller detail of the red-painted brake calipers, subtly hinting that today is going to be a fun day. A fast day.
